Bathroom & Shower Silicone Resealing in Portsmouth
Silicone in a bathroom takes constant water, heat and movement, so it is usually the first thing to fail. We strip out the old bead, prepare the joint and re-seal it so the finish looks right and stays watertight.
What the work involves
Old silicone is cut out completely rather than sealed over — a new bead applied on top of failed sealant traps moisture and lifts within months.
Joints are cleaned back, degreased and dried before anything is applied, and surrounding surfaces are masked so tiling, trays and stone are protected.
Sanitary-grade, mould-resistant silicone is applied in one continuous pass and tooled to a consistent line, then everything is cleaned down before we leave.
Problems this solves
- Black mould staining that no longer cleans off
- Silicone lifting, splitting or peeling away from the tray
- Water tracking behind the bath or through a ceiling below
- Thick, uneven beads left by a previous fit-out
- Discoloured or yellowed sealant on a newly refurbished bathroom
Typical applications
- Shower trays, enclosures and wet room formers
- Bath edges, panels and tiled upstands
- Tile-to-plaster and tile-to-tray junctions
- Basins, vanity units and worktop-to-wall lines
- Wall panelling and shower boarding joints
Areas covered

FAQs
Common questions
- Can old silicone be removed and replaced?
- Yes. Removal is most of the work. The old bead is cut out, residue is taken back and the joint is cleaned before the new silicone goes on.
- Can mouldy bathroom silicone be replaced?
- Yes. Mould growth sits in and under the sealant, so it is removed rather than treated, and replaced with a mould-resistant sanitary silicone.
- Do you reseal shower enclosures?
- Regularly — trays, enclosure frames, glass junctions and the tiled upstands around them.
- How long should silicone dry before using a shower?
- As a general guide, leave it 24 hours before use. We confirm the timing on the day based on the product used and the room conditions.
- Can different silicone colours be matched?
- Yes. White, clear, grey, anthracite and other shades are available so the bead suits the tiling, tray or worktop.
